Event Hosts

An Event Host is anyone with a platform where they can share their thoughts and excitement on poetry and short fiction. They can be book bloggers, book reviewers, social media influencer, authors, poets, and short fiction and poetry enthusiasts. Blog tour companies like Poesy Book Tours are lifeless and stagnant without event hosts. By helping Poesy Book Tours promote works entrusted to us by our clients through signal boosting on their platforms and networks and creating and spreading the hype, they play a crucial role in the success of any promotional event.

A Poesy Event Host works hand in hand with Poesy Book Tours virtually in promoting literary works.

PERKS OF A POESY EVENT HOST

Without our event hosts, Poesy Book Tours cannot operate. That’s why we value our hosts to the ends of the earth. The following are the perks and privileges you have as a Poesy Event Host. EVENTS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE:

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM OUR HOSTS

In Poesy Book Tours, anyone with a social media platform can become a Poesy Event Host. We welcome everyone, from all walks of life, regardless of age, gender, religious beliefs, geographic location, mental stability, and physical ability. You don’t even have to be located in the United States of America in order to be an Event Host (we’re not even based in US).

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Generally, we require all our event hosts to be enthusiastic, authentic, reliable, polite, honest, and responsible when working with us and towards our clients. We want our event hosts enthusiastic and authentic when it comes to promoting the title(s)—there’s no more effective way of marketing than to be enthusiastic and authentic about it!

Second, we also want our event hosts to be reliable and responsible when it comes to the responsibilities entrusted to them. They must be able to post their live event content on their scheduled date. If they cannot for whatever valid reason, they must be able to inform us ahead of time. As in the case for book reviews requested through our Review Vault, reviewers must be responsible of when to post and submit their reviews.

Third, we also want our event hosts to be polite and honest in all cases. This is especially in the case of book reviews. As much as we want our reviewers to be honest in reviewing works sent to them, we cannot tolerate bashing and unnecessary hate especially through a book review. We want our event hosts to be civil about their opinions.

We would also like to add that all the platforms’ contents must be primarily written in English.

For aspiring Blog Event Hosts, we only require that they must have an active book blog of at least a month old. For aspiring Social Media Event Hosts, we require that they must have at least three (3) active social media accounts. For aspiring Review-Only Event Host, we require that they must have an active GoodReads account.

POESY EVENT HOSTING ETIQUETTE

REVIEWS

  • Must be at least three (3) stars. The purpose of a tour and other virtual promotional events is to create buzz and spread the hype for the title being promoted. If you cannot rate a book at least three (3) stars, kindly refrain from posting your review and email us (poesybooktours@gmail.com) immediately at least three (3) days prior to your scheduled date so we can send you a promotional post instead (if in the case of tours and promotional events). Review queries are an exception to this rule.
  • Are expected to be 100% foolproof, honest and constructive yet polite. Be sure to state in your review what elements did you enjoy reading and which you did not. Always explain why.
  • Must be accompanied with a disclosure / disclaimer prior or after the review. The disclosure or disclaimer must indicate that you have received a review copy from the author through Poesy Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. Your review must not be affected by receiving a free copy to review.

POSTS

  • All promotional event stops must be live / uploaded by 8 a.m. EST (see time converter link below) on your scheduled date. Failure to do so twice will result in earning you a slot in our blacklisted event hosts. We will always be checking.
  • Please ensure correct spelling and proper capitalisations of the author’s name and their work both in the post title and the body text of your posts.
  • If you cannot post on your scheduled date (as in the case for blog tours) and / or within the time-frame (as in the case for blitzes, reveals and review queries) allotted for you, kindly inform us via email (poesybooktours@gmail.com) with your valid reasons at least three (3) days prior to your schedule. Doing so will allow us to excuse you from ending up in the blacklist.
  • All tour stops must be the top post of the day. For non-tour stops, top posting is optional but are encouraged. Failure to do so twice will result in earning you a slot in our blacklisted event hosts. We will always be checking.
  • All tour stops must be uploaded or posted on a blog (it is mandatory that all tour stops must be found on blogs). Other promotional event stops (as in the case for blitzes, reveals, review queries, etc.) may be uploaded or posted on a blog and / or social media platform of their choosing.

ADVANCED READER’S COPIES

  • Must only be for personal use (as in the case of reviewing it). You may not pirate, copy, resell, modify and / or alter advanced readers’ copies without the prior express permission from the author and / or publisher.
  • If it’s not too much or too absurd to ask, digital advanced readers’ copies received must be deleted as soon as you’re finished reading your copy.

PROMOTING

  • We ask participating event hosts to kindly cross-promote respective posts and / or fellow hosts’ exclusive content(s) across your social media platforms to obtain maximum exposure for your network and your fellow hosts’ as well.
  • Use appropriate and relevant hashtags or you may use our Social Media Ready-to-Post document for ease of posting. Our Social Media-Ready Post files contain pre-made social media posts (customised according to word count limits) with appropriate and relevant hashtags. Feel free to customise our ready-to-post files to suit your needs and style.

DON’T GET BLACKLISTED

Ending up in the blacklist means you will be placed under probation for a determined length. In addition to this punishment, you won’t be able to participate on any promotional event or be approved of future review request(s). You will end up in the blacklist if you have been caught committing any of the offenses listed below:

  • You did not post your exclusive content on your blog and / or social media platform on your scheduled date (for tours) / within the time-frame (for blitzes, reveals and review queries) without due notice expressed via email twice.
  • You pirated, copied, resold, modified and / or altered advanced review copies (ARCs) and / or other exclusive materials without prior express permission from the author and / or publisher.
  • You revealed a cover / trailer / excerpt prior to the scheduled reveal day.
