Book Tours

ABOUT

A Blog Tour a promotional event that mimics that of a book tour, except that it is done virtually and can be done while sitting at home. It consists of having virtual tour stops on participating blogs. Giveaways may or may not be included but are encouraged for maximum reader participation.

Over time, blog tours became a more and more popular marketing strategy for authors and publishers because of its convenience and cheapness. Specific online companies were even created for the sole purpose of it.

Most tour companies offer other promotional events as well, have excellent roster of hosts, and a wide social media reach. However, if we’ve done our research well, there is only but a few tour companies that are accepting non-fiction and short fiction titles. Here at POESY BOOK TOURS, we are patching up that hole by taking things to a whole new level. Since we primarily specialise in promoting poetry and short fiction, all promotions are poetry-focused and short fiction-focused and are open to poets and authors whether indie or not, small presses, poetry, and short fiction publishers.

You may take a look on this page for a list of literary mediums with which we can work on as well.

TOUR STOP CHOICES

A Tour Stop a promotional element in book tours which takes place in a particular location (i.e. library, local bookstores, cafes, etc.). In the case of blog tours, these events may come in the form of a review, promo post, guest post, interview, bonus materials, top 10 lists, and more and will take place in participating event hosts’ blogs.

Tour stops may range from the ones listed below to more unique and creative ones, depending on what you can think up of. Additionally, available tour stops may vary depending on your availability. The ones found below are the usual tour stops you can find on any blog tour.

  • Excerpts — an extract or a small part taken from a longer work; this stop is flexible to all sorts of literary work; excerpt(s) may be handpicked by you or you may ask us to pick them for you
  • Fun Facts — are trivia posts written by the author or poet being promoted; they may come in a form of lists of what we don’t know about the promoted title; are like behind-the-scenes lists
  • Giveaways — prize(s) to be given away at no additional costs to the participants; are encouraged but not required; maximises reader participation in the tour; are always event-wide and hosts will be given the same giveaway code and info
  • Guest Posts — are posts written by the author or poet being promoted; these may come in the form of discussions, background story, a pep talk or advice, or basically anything that will help promote their title(s); this stop can give your readers a taste of your writing style, background and manifestos; participating event hosts are free and are encouraged to request a specific topic to be covered by the author or poet being promoted; requested topic(s) must be somehow related to the promoted title or to the author or poet
  • Interviews — are posts in which the author or poet being promoted answers the questions submitted by participating event hosts; questions may be premade but we suggest developing a unique set for the author or poet being promoted
  • Playlists — are lists of songs and / or music curated by the author or poet being promoted; these may be a list of songs and / or music to create the atmosphere the promoted title gives or a list which helped and inspired the author or poet to write the promoted title
  • Promo Posts — usually comes as a premade post by the sponsor or organizer; they may come in a form of a book spotlight, author spotlight, cover reveal or any kind of post which promotes the title; the post’s main goal is to highlight the book’s information
  • Reviews — analysis or critique on a particular material (books, in this case) which can be done by anyone, particularly professional readers, librarians, book bloggers, etc.; only available for the classic tour; tour hosts who signed up for a review stop will be sent advanced reader’s copies at least two (2) weeks prior to the start of the tour; reviewers will then post their three (3) plus star book review on their respective blogs; are cross-posted by reviewers on as many review sites as possible
  • Audio Excerpts — are excerpts from the title being promoted narrated or spoken by the author or poet; more common for poetry excerpts (as in the case of spoken word and poetry slams); these excerpts may be recorded via Soundcloud and then embedded on the participating hosts’ post; codes will be given in the review packet
  • Top 10 Lists — a list of ten things curated by the author or poet being promoted that centres on a requested topic; topic(s) may be developed by participating event hosts, the event organiser or the author or poet
